Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada Donate 10K to USO

On Tuesday November 15, 2011, the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada Benevolent Association donated $10,000 to the United Service Organizations (USO) Las Vegas. The donation will go towards expanding the USO Travel Center, which functions as an airport lounge for military personnel, veterans and military families.

The center will expand by another eleven hundred square feet to create an area devoted to children, including a place where service members can record themselves reading books to send video messages to their children. Rusty McAllister, President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada says, “It is our honor to give back to the men and women who serve our country. The USO is an exceptional organization, and we are proud to help expand a center that has benefitted so many of our country’s service members.”

USO Las Vegas Center Director Doug Bradford is thankful for the donation from the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada Benevolent Association. “The support from the Professional Fire Fighters Association is significant in and of itself, because of what they do on a daily basis for our community,” said Bradford. “The USO Las Vegas is grateful for the donation as it will help us in our mission of providing a “home-away-from-home” for troops to relax in while awaiting their flights to their next duty station, or to home on leave, or back to the frontlines.” The center serves troops of all branches of the service from Nevada and all parts of the nation.

The USO serves to lift the spirits of America’s troops and their families millions of times each year at hundreds of places worldwide. They provide a touch of home through centers at airports and military bases, top quality entertainment and innovative programs and services. They also provide critical support to those who need us most, including forward-deployed troops and their families, wounded warriors and their families and the families of the fallen.
