The dog was rescued from the 61-meter well with the apparatus developed by the crews of IMM Fire Department.
Fire crews from the Fire Department of Istanbul (Turkey) Metropolitan (IMM) rescued a dog stuck in a narrow well 61 meters deep at around 06:00 this morning.
It marked a happy ending to an incident in which a dog fell into a well on Karakulak Road in Dereseki Neighbourhood, Beykoz District of the Istanbul City. The dog became stuck in a narrow well 61 meters deep and 30 centimeters in diameter for about 10 days, but was ultimately rescued by crews from IMM Fire Department at around 06:00 this morning.
The crews of the fire department had obtained instant views of the trapped dog with a sub-aqua camera and a sub-rubble viewing device. Along with the fire department crews, ISKI crews participated in this rescue operation with channel-inside scanning cameras.
As of 4thFebruary, a pneumatic climate tent and a heating system were established over the well for the dog not to be affected by bad weather conditions. This kep the temperature of the dog stabile.
Firefightersused various techniques of catching in order to rescue the stuck dog in the early hours of the mornings, continued all night for about ten days.
The dog–named Kuyu, which means well in Turkish–underwent a medical examination in IMM Animal Hospital. The new home of Kuyu became Beykoz station of Istanbul Fire Department with the support of animal lovers.
Turkey-wide and international congratulations from colleagues and animal lovers are coming to Istanbul Fire Department for this successful operation.
