Where firefighters come to talk training

Hello all,

I am starting up an explorer program in my fire department and I need some help. My chief asked me for some ideas for a good training curriculum for the explorers. If anyone can help me with this task and any other information on this subject, it would be greatly appreciated. I really want to do the best job I possibly can to motivate the future of the fire service properly. Thank you in advance.

Start with the Boy Scout program. Then start training like you train a new recruit. Show tools and how they are used safely, how to get dressed, discuss fire behavior, firefighting tradition. If you plan on using SCBA for the explorers make sure they are fit tested and records kept in their file. Show how to raise a ladder using a roof ladder, show how to handle hose, hook up to a hydrant, where tools are kept on vehicles.
