Where firefighters come to talk training

We all continue to get requests to speak about what happens on the fireground to different kinds of groups for many different reasons. Often we get the same questions repeatedly: Why do you need so many firefighters? What do the different trucks do? Why do you always break the windows? We have been taught by Tom Brennan how to break down the tasks by numbers and function, but to non-firefighters we needed more.

How do you explain to inexperienced citizens how the fireground works or why we staff the way we do? These can be difficult issues to explain, and it can be hard hold peoples attention. It is hard for some folks to visualize insider concepts like ventilation and search for life. This can be especially tough for young kids or politicians, both of whom have little time and want to be clear about what they are learning.

It helps if you can show pictures, but it is a home run when you have a video. This is a FREE download for you and your department to use for whatever occasion. We have been informed that it is being used already in contract negotiations, public education classes, recruiting efforts, and safety fairs. The uses are up to you and your imagination. So here is "Smoke Showing," free and with no strings attached. Let us know how you like it, what you are going to use it for, and what you would like us to do in the future.
