I'm a fully qualified firefighter in the UK, Im enquiring as to whether any US departments will allow firefighters from oversees to come and work with them for a short period of time, unpaid, purely for the experience?
This is something id love to do, ideally with a city department, Detroit, Boston, Baltimore, Minneapolis, DC, where ever really.
Any information or advice would be greatley appreciated.

I dont think big city departments really do this due to unions and liability.
The only department that does that, that I can think of, is Kentland 33 in Maryland. However, I am not a member there; I stopped by 1 day on a recent road trip, and the fireman I was talking to said that they have a few people from other countries that live at the firehouse for 1 month out of the year and respond to all calls while they are there. I would research them.
They are considered the one of the busiest volunteer department in the country.
