Where firefighters come to talk training

Vehicle Extrication

Vehicle Extrication Class; full day vehicle extrication class in accordance with NFPA 1670 operations level, advance vehicle rescue. As a part of their annual training the 266th Army Reserve fire fighting unit went to a field trip to a local metal Junker (greatly appreciation for the support). During the training session important items such as vehicle anatomy, initial assessment, vehicle stabilization, patient safety and care were cover in details. The main objective of the session was to provide much needed "hands on" for each firemen on vehicle extrication, tools and equipment. Several scenarios were build to test their response and awareness; nevertheless, every session was closely monitored in due regard of safety. Each fire fighter had the opportunity to fully interact with hydraulic, pneumatic and hand operated tools to practice several extrication techniques to include: open jammed doors, total side removal, trunk tunneling, roof flap, roof removal and roof lay down. In addition, the 266th Army soldiers practiced the proper procedures for breaking glass or windshield removal, deactivate safety locks, hood forcible entry, latch attack, sharp object protection, personal protective equipment and safety considerations during vehicle extrication. Outstanding work, great group of fire fighters.
