The NFA MCTO series would be a good starting point for those who want to become company level officers. It is desgined to teach tactics to the co. officer and is broken down into 3 modules. Your state fire academy folks should be able to help you with it.

FYI...Cobb County GA is going to make a Associate degree the minimum requirement for testing for company officer promtions. Cobb is a suburb of Atlanta and is one of the most progessive depts. in the ATL area.

John, we have such a program being completed at the moment and it should be on line this summer. The program consists of 40 hours of classroom time for all persons wishing to take the promotional test or being eligible to upgrade to company officer.
The class deals with tactics, strategy, personnel management, conflict resolution, report writing, sexual harassment and violence in the work place as well as rules and regs and the disciplinary guidelines.
