WSBT-TV RAW VIDEO South Bend Firefighters injured at Lincolnway Foods fire

08/08/08
SBFD Firefighter with serious injuries after wall collaspe. watch at 02:20 for the injury. I know that it looks like a goat rodeo but had they not acted quickly Jared could have suffered more serious injuries (the wall continues to fall, even after they move him).

Yes, in the beginning of the video that is the FAST team repo'ing their staging area. This was a type III building. It also was a bowtruss roof, that had a flat roof placed overtop of the bow. That additional void space was the reason for the fire spread. We were interior for approx. 20min trying the find and expose the fire. Interior operations were also hindered by narrow aisles and coller's "like"conditions We were pulled by command when we starting losing the smoke battle (just before that video was shot, this video starts about 25 min into the fire, and the wall fell about 30 min in).

Glad to hear Pearish is back to work. It looked like the helmet separated from itself. The video is excellent and reinforces the basics of building construction, collapse zones, and truck placement. Is that the RIT team repositioning their equipment in the video (the guys carrying the tarp)? Was this a non-combustible building or ordinary construction? I'd guess NC/LC, but let me know when you can. Thanks!

I was wondering why I didn't see it on 22 or 16. I guess thats why.
I'm glad to hear Brother Pearish is doing well.

Sorry ron, that fire was on 080808. Brother Pearish suffered a skull fracture and a cerebral bleed. Both of which have since been resolved. Pearish was in a collar for 4 months and off work until january. He is back now though and aside from his neck being a little skinner he is the same a**h*** that I love!

INDEED, That PPV fan did get what it deserved! I am going to post a video that shows the first 30 minutes of that fire as well. I will point out some key frames to watch for... aside from the injuries, this was a pretty interesting fire.

I waited to post the videos for various reasons, mostly out of respect for Pearish....I know that the Discovery Channel wanted to do a special on this incident...something along "when hell breaks loose and we catch it on video" type of thing (i dont know the details or where it stands at this point).

I would like to wish the Brother involved a speedy recovery, my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Please keep us posted on his condition.

(on a side note, I would like to add...... the PPV fan got what it deserved!)
