Twenty-three people staying at a Dauphin County (PA) motel were displaced after a fire broke out on Friday night.

Swatara Township Fire Chief Mike Ibberson said crews were called to the Rodeway Inn at 631 Eisenhower Boulevard around 9:36 p.m., where they found flames coming out of the roof and smoke throughout the building.

Fire crews and police assisted in evacuating people from the building, including a few that required smoke inhalation treatment at the scene, according to Ibberson.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital, Ibberson said.

Accommodations are being worked on for the displaced people.

Around 11:30 p.m., Ibberson said the investigation into the fire was just beginning so there was no preliminary information on the cause of the fire or where it began. The Dauphin County Fire Investigation Team was called in.

Ibberson estimated 75 firefighters responded to the scene due to the second alarm designation.
